Here at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School, we were delighted to be able to reopen the grounds for guided shooting at the end of May. It has been wonderful to see old and new faces alike here at the school and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has shot with us for following all the procedures and ensuring we have maintained a safe shooting environment.
In light of the success of the first week and following the government’s recent announcement, as of Thursday 4th June, we will be able to welcome up to 5 people to shoot as a group. Strict social distancing rules will be observed but this is the perfect way to come and shoot either the 10 x 10 or the Handicap Challenge.
As before, this will be for experienced shots only, shooting with their own gun and with all shooters maintaining strict social distancing. This means friends and family can come and practice or take part in the Handicap Challenge together. In keeping with government guidelines, regrettably, we are not yet able to offer private tuition, but being able to welcome groups to the grounds it is another significant step in a positive direction.
The Gun Room and Country Store are preparing to reopen on Monday 15th June at 8am. Further details as to how the stores will operate will be shared in the coming days, but for now we are asking people to call or email ahead to place their orders or to book a shopping slot. Equally, whilst we do not yet know when Simulated Game shooting will be able to resume, we are liaising with all our estates to ensure that we can and will start our Really Wild Clay Days at the first opportunity.
So, all in all, plenty to look forward to and plenty of reasons to remain cautiously optimistic. Whilst we remain positive, I wish to reassure everybody that every step we take at the Royal Berkshire is done in full compliance with any and all government guidelines. We are committed to creating and maintaining the safest shooting environment possible and we know this takes time. Your patience is much appreciated.
