Roving Gun

Roving Gun

The team here at the Royal Berkshire are thrilled that we will be able to reopen on Monday 29th March. This is a wonderful and positive step in the right direction.  Full details of what the shooting we will be offering when we open can be found here.

During this last lock down we have been working hard to make further changes to the grounds. We have designed and set the course for The 2021 Handicap Challenge, we have built a new stand in the woods, cleared away some old stands and have undertaken many small but essential jobs in and around the lodge. All this so that we can start as smoothly and quickly as possible. Naturally, when we do open, we will be following all COVID guidelines and the team will continue to provide the safest possible shooting environment for our clients and colleagues alike.

As per the Prime Minister’s announcement, the Gun Room and Country Store are not yet able to open their doors, but they do continue to offer online sales and a click and collect service. We have an excellent stock of cartridges and, as you will read later, some very exciting new guns are coming into the Gun Room.  Likewise, the spring collections have been dropping in the Country Store, so there is plenty to look at online!

One of the most positive things to emerge from the recent announcement is the sense of structure and clarity around timings and each step. This clarity has reinforced the sense of optimism felt by the Sporting Agency team as we have witnessed an exceptionally high demand for game shooting in the 2021/22 season. It is clear that many people missed out on many days last season and so it is pleasing to see the level of commitment being shown by estates and the teams of guns. As ever, we would be delighted to assist you if you are looking to book your shooting and with Gordon now well into his third decade of running the Agency, our experience remains your guarantee of a great day.

There really is so much to look forward to! We know there is a long way to go and it will be “one step at a time” but the excitement felt by the team, as we prepare to welcome people back to the school, is genuine. We can't wait to welcome you back.
