A day in the field is a blissful thing. But come nightfall, and soirée season looming, the more sophisticated allure of the estate calls for smarter attire.
Purdey, of course, has you covered – our Estate Evening collection of modern black-tie are re-spun classics of post-shoot elegance and style. There’s nothing too outré here: just classic cuts in beautiful fabrics; platonic ideals of refined formal wear.
The Estate Evening Jacket for men (pictured left) and for women (right)
For women, a Cashmere Sweater Blouse, for instance, features a low turtle-neck collar and dropped shoulders, billowing blouson sleeves and, most strikingly, all-over Nottingham lace details of wonderful intricacy (and especially pretty in an ivory white iteration).
An Estate Evening Duke Jacket continues the vaguely monochrome theme; a genteel, noirish Black Watch check in an old-school – but increasingly voguish – double-breasted cut, with statement lapels, leather embellishments (on the undercollar, and with internal and ticket pockets) and horn buttons.
The formal pièce de résistance is the Estate Evening Long Jacket – a knee-length vision in shimmering, bottle-green velvet, cinched and texturally offset with a tied leather belt. It’s all extremely graceful: winsomely classic aesthetics reimagined with the contemporary expertise that Purdey is so beloved for.
The black version of our women's Lace Stand Collar Short (pictured left); the men's Worsted Cashmere Seamless Turtleneck and Estate Evening Duke Jacket
The men’s collection, ever so slightly expanded in scope, follows the theme. A minimalist white Estate Shirt is a perfect interpretation of the form; our Worsted Cashmere Seamless Turtleneck – in an 18-gauge, super-light wool – a truly cultivated insulating layer. Trousers come in two forms: a classic Two-Pleat in black wool; and a cotton corduroy Side-Buckle for a cooler, more contemporary line.
Like the women’s version, the Black-Watch-check Estate Evening Duke Jacket offers an immutable taste of the Highlands. The Estate Evening Jacket, meanwhile, is shortened – but retains the artfully moody palette of black, midnight and bottle-green, this time with a nehru collar.
An Estate Evening Town and Country Coat is the defacto statement piece – knee-length and crafted in 100% Scottish double-faced lambswool, with more Black Watch check, horn and leather buttons, and a leather collar stand and internal pocket. It's an outer layer for the ages.
Whether drawing-room merrymaking, snifters round the hearth or a long, game-fuelled dinner, the Purdey Estate Evening collections offer refined capsules to draw the hours out in style.
