Roving Gun

Roving Gun

Jonathan Irby, Managing Director of The Royal Berkshire Shooting School

As Christmas draws nearer and 2021 draws to a close, for many lucky people it means the approach of the red letter day in their shooting diary….the Boxing Day shoot! For others, it means the thrill and challenge of January’s end of season days. Either way there is still plenty of shooting to look forward to. For the Sporting Agency team it has been a wonderfully busy season, and we are still taking bookings for this season whilst also starting to fill up next seasons diary, already. So, do please call Gordon or Matt if you have any questions

Elsewhere, the team are already taking bookings for our Really Wild Clay Days.  Now that Conholt has joined our stable of prestigious venues, including Englefield, Highclere, Well Barn and West Woodhay – we really do have the best estates to shoot on! Please do contact either Katie or Georgie to ensure you secure your preferred date at your chosen estate.  Equally, why not buy somebody a voucher for a peg on a Really Wild Day – it is the perfect gift for the shooting man or woman who will be suffering from withdrawal symptoms come the summer months.

For those who have yet to complete (or maybe even start) their shopping, do come and visit the Country Store.  Mel and Emilia have a wonderful variety of clothing and accessories in stock whilst Alastair has a great selection of new and second hand guns, rifles and air rifles to choose from.

So what of 2021… let me put it this way, I am glad it is coming to an end but am also exceptionally grateful that we have had such a busy and enjoyable year, which is all thanks to our loyal clients.  It has been lovely to be open and to see the grounds so busy with lessons, competitions and events, to see us hosting a record number of Really Wild days and, the Gun Room selling more cartridges than ever before!  Quite clearly, all of this can only happen thanks to a great team of people and so I want to take this chance to thank all the team here at the Shooting School for their hard work, dedication and sense of humour.  They, and our clients, have made sure that 2021 was the best year that it could possibly be.

It just remains for me to wish everybody a very Happy Christmas and a safe and healthy 2022.

Jonathan
