The English gunmaker James Woodward & Sons is often referred to as "the gunmaker's gunmaker". A London based gunmaker, they were established in 1874 and purchased by James Purdey & Son in 1948. A Woodward is always defined by it elegant aesthetics and its crisp handling and this month we are delighted to have this stunning pair for sale in The Royal Berkshire Gun Room.
Completed in 1899, they were rebarrelled in 1974 with 2 3/4" chambers by J.Purdey & Sons Ltd. To have guns of this age with modern barrels is a real "find". They are great value for what is a pair of high quality guns from this iconic and much sought after maker. They feature 28" barrels, with 14 1/8" stocks and are in an oak and leather gun case.
