We have enjoyed hosting the Purdey Young Shots Days, as they have been a great way of attracting new young shooters to the sport. To celebrate our first year of hosting the course, everyone who had taken part in a Purdey Young Shots event over the past 12 months was invited to attend the inaugural Purdey Young Shots Challenge at the end of August.
We split everybody up into small groups who, under the guidance of our instructors, and with family and friends to cheer them on, to tackle a 40 bird course devised by our own Steve Turner. It was noticed by our instructors that all guns showed real enthusiasm and enjoyment of the challenge, and even those who had only managed to shoot occasionally since their visit, demonstrated an excellent understanding of the safety and etiquette they had been taught previously.
At the end of the competition, the scores were added, and winners were congratulated, with Romily Behagg taking the Top Lady spot with an excellent score of 21/40, and Harry Poolman taking Top Man and Top Gun with a fabulous 31/40. He is pictured above, being presented with the trophy by RBSS Managing Director Jonathan Irby.
We would like to thank every one of the Young Guns who have visited us this year, and look forward to welcoming you again very soon. If you have a child who is interested in learning to shoot, then our Purdey Young Shots Programme is an excellent place for them to start, so do look out for information about future events via our monthly e-newsletter, or on our website.
