NEWS FROM THE PEG

The surge of bookings in the Sporting Agency continues. From amazing back-to-back grouse packages in Yorkshire, combined with luxury accommodation at one of the Yorkshire Dales most well-known country houses, to high bird days just a stone’s throw from London, the bookings are still coming in at a steady pace. There are plenty of prime dates available at most of our venues, so do get in touch with Gordon or Ben if you would like to book some game shooting for next season.

In other news we have nearly completed the production of our new Sporting Agency Promotional Film that will be released shortly. Keep an eye out for it; we are very pleased with it thus far. You may even spot the Leonardo Di Caprio of the shooting industry, Mr Gordon Robinson making his acting debut.

Sport abroad; we have been receiving regular updates from our new bird shooting operators in Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia and Botswana). Africa opitimises value for money, all our packages are fully inclusive of luxury accommodation, all meals, drinks and land-based transfers.
Over the last few weeks the infamous rock pigeons, considered one of the world’s most sporting birds, have been pouring into the sunflower fields around Bloemfontein in huge numbers. These understated birds are simply fantastic sport. Their speed and agility will often leave you scratching your head for answers – ever tried to shoot a corkscrewing bird on a good wind? It’s certainly a challenge that needs to be undertaken.

Rock pigeons are not the only bird that Africa has to offer the intrepid sportsman. The vast array of wild game birds and wildfowl is fantastic and a true credit to the ‘conservation through hunting’ schemes. One hunt that is particularly memorable is the greywing partridge (Africa’s red grouse), which are walked up in the rugged mountainous regions. These fascinating game birds are only found above 5000 feet, which means that the scenery is breathtaking. It is a truly magical experience and can be combined with family visits to local game reserves for sightseeing activities.

We have recently set up a Royal Berkshire Sporting Agency 6-day hosted trip to South Africa which consists of mainly shooting sandgrouse and rock pigeon, though clients will also have the opportunity to shoot guineafowl, spurfowl and francolin should they wish. The sandgrouse and rock pigeon are both situated in probably the most prolific shooting areas for these specific species on earth - this is not an opportunity to be missed.
Clients will arrive in Johannesburg and be collected by private aircraft, before being flown to the Kalahari desert for two days sandgrouse shooting, staying in a luxurious bush camp surrounded by open wilderness. The days are often concluded by sipping on a cold ‘sundowner’ whilst watching the plains game graze their way across the Kalahari. From here, clients will be flown back to Bloemfontein by private aircraft for two days of Rock Pigeon shooting, hot barrels are guaranteed, before returning back to the UK. This wonderful package is available for little over £4000 + VAT per person! Please email Ben for more details, as we still have a couple of spaces left.
