Canvas and Leather Hunting Bag
There are five different pieces in the Purdey range of travel luggage. All bags are hand made from waterproof cotton canvas and leather with solid brass fittings. The bags are lined with red wool baize, woven in Yorkshire, which is used traditionally to line Purdey gun cases. The hunting bag, the largest in the range, has two large compartments, one of which has a removable waterproof lining; these can be used for clothing or gun accessories. Between the two compartments is a separate zipped section designed to hold a disassembled shotgun. This has two sections; one section to hold the stock and action and a second for the forend and barrels up to 30”. Technical details: 100% cotton bag canvas bonded with rubber to a cotton backing, vegetable tanned leather, stitched with waxed linen thread for enhanced water resistance, pure wool baize lining, black leather internal label embossed in gold with “James Purdey & Sons Gun & Rifle Makers”, 100% cotton webbing strap, leather handle, solid brass buckles and zips and leather lozenge for stamping of initials.
